The last Collective Test of the 2016 Season has started today in the Circuit of Jerez. Three days of testing are in the schedule for the Formula V8 3.5 Teams with the AM Session dedicated to the Rookies. Alfonso Celis Jr. (Fortec Motorsports) topped the Session with two Rookies showing their big potential: Steijn Schothorst (RP Motorsport) and Dorian Boccolacci (Fortec Motorsports).

René Binder was the first driver to step in a dumped track after the heavy rain affecting the South of Spain.  The Rookie test was the main focus of this Morning Session, as the Formula V8 3.5 Organising Committee 5 of these drivers

Dorian Boccolacci was installed in the Fortec Motorsports car, and leaded the early stages of the test ahead of the Belgian Max Defourny (Lotus), until de red flag was shown to rescue the Asian Formula Renault 2.0 champion, Josh Burdon (Teo Martin Motorsport), invited by Renault Sport. The Rookie list also includes the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 driver, Harrison Scott.

Arden Motorsport hosted the Mexican Telmex EuroFormula driver Diego Menchaca while RP Motorsport welcomed in the Dutch Steijn Schothorst. The GP3 driver coached by our 2008 champion, Giedo Van der Garde, and had to gain the pits towed once, minutes after Defourny had stalled his car in the blue strip displaying Jerez.  

As the morning progressed the lead was handed to Konstantin Tereschenko (Teo Martin Motorsport), and Yu Kanamaru (Arden Motorsport), ahead of Harrison Scott and Max Defourny while the Mexican Alfonso Celis Jr., with the Fortec Motorsports car, was always on top 5.

Beitske Visser returned to test with her former Team in 2015, AVF, while we spot other new faces test as the EuroFormula Open driver Damiano Fioravanti, who had a small exit at the final stages of the AM session

As the track conditions improved in the Circuit of Jerez the final minutes, with everyone in slick tyres, provided the natural thrill. Harrison Scott opened a series of improvements, leaving the lead to Steijn Schothorst and Alfonso Celis Jr. but the Dutch managed to hold the Mexican as Tereschenko stepped in P2.  Finally, the Sahara Force India development driver finished in P1 ahead Schothorst, Boccolacci and Scott with Visser closing the Top 5.

“We’ve just finished our Rookie Test on top! P2 overall! We did not use new tyres as some others did but the car feels amazing and the track is fantastic! I have enjoyed so much as the track was improving, can’t wait to continue!
